Information in accordance with the Packaging Ordinance
In accordance with the provisions of the Packaging Ordinance, we are obliged to take back packaging for our products that does not bear the mark of a nationwide waste disposal scheme (such as the ‘Green Dot’ of the Dual System Germany AG or the ‘RESY’ symbol) and to ensure its reuse or disposal.
Please note that, in the case of devices such as consumer electronics, the packaging forms an integral part of the product. The packaging is specially designed by the manufacturer for each device and is therefore generally ideally suited for parcel delivery. Should you need to hand in or post your device for servicing or customer support, either during the warranty period or afterwards, the original packaging offers the best protection against damage in transit. Also bear in mind that you may wish to sell your device at a later date via eBay or another second-hand marketplace. In such cases, too, it is a great advantage to be able to offer the device in its original packaging.
We therefore strongly recommend that you keep the original packaging for your devices for as long as you own them.
If you do wish to dispose of the packaging, or if it is outer packaging used by us, please look out for the ‘Green Dot’ * or ‘Resy’ * symbols. These take-back or recycling schemes are funded through licence fees for the ‘Green Dot’ symbol or the RESY symbol, which are paid by packaging manufacturers, equipment manufacturers or retailers to Duales System Deutschland or to RESY Organisation für Wertstoffentsorgung GmbH. Payment of the fee and the affixing of the relevant symbol fulfil the requirements of the Packaging Ordinance for transport packaging. This means that those who place such labelled packaging on the market are exempt from the individual take-back obligation under the Packaging Ordinance.
What does this mean for you as a consumer? You can place all packaging marked with the above symbols in the waste paper collection – in other words, in the same place where you would dispose of old newspapers, for example. Foreign materials typically found on packaging, such as adhesive tape, labels or a small amount of film, do not interfere with the recycling process. For all other packaging (e.g. single-use pallets or outer cartons that do not bear one of the symbols mentioned above), we are obliged to take them back in accordance with the provisions of the Packaging Ordinance, and must ensure that they are either recycled or reused. We reuse the packaging or send it for material recycling outside the public waste disposal system.
